After neighbor complaints about the proposed new Discovery subdivision near Kilby Road between Summit Park and Pinebrook, the developer has decided to decrease it in size. The proposal was originally made for a total of 207 units and is now down to 162 of which 81 are supposed to be single-family homes, 69 townhomes and 12 duplexes.
The development is supposed to encourage affordable housing. The issue with approval is that the developer chose a scenic area and neighbors are afraid of losing views and hurting the environment.
The 70 acre land is currently zoned for 7 homes. The county is trying to protect as much open space as possible.
There is a public hearing for the proposal scheduled before the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission on Jan. 11.
