NHL Coming to Utah

The Arizona Coyotes move to Salt Lake City

Utah has long been celebrated for its breathtaking mountains and diverse outdoor activities, attracting athletes and adventurers from around the globe. Utahns have been waiting for a professional hockey team for a long time. In April the NHL announced that the Arizona Coyotes will be relocating to Salt Lake City for the 2024-25 season, and hockey fans couldn’t be more excited.

Led by Ryan Smith, owner of the Utah Jazz, and his wife Ashley, Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) secured the franchise for a reported $1.2 to $1.3 billion. The group has been actively pursuing an NHL team for Utah, highlighting the state’s immediate readiness to host hockey games at the Delta Center while plans for a dedicated hockey arena are underway.

Ryan Smith emphasized the community’s enthusiasm for sports and entertainment, expressing confidence in Utah’s ability to support and thrive with an NHL franchise. SEG, which oversees the Utah Jazz, Delta Center, Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals, and other entities, is committed to delivering exceptional sports experiences and looks forward to integrating the NHL permanently into Utah’s vibrant sporting landscape.

Below you can take a look at the renderings for a potential revamp of downtown Salt Lake City featuring a new Utah Jazz arena and a pedestrian area lined with restaurants and shops.

Additionally, Larry H. Miller is actively pursuing the goal of bringing a Major League Baseball team to Utah, while the state eagerly awaits confirmation about hosting the 2034 Winter Olympics.

We are excited about the future of professional sports in Utah.

Renderings of New MLB Stadium

The future of sports in Utah looks promising. Larry H Miller and his family want to bring a Major League Baseball team to Utah. At least one day. Renderings of the new stadium and mixed-use development look impressive. The envisioned Power District, adjacent to the Jordan River and Utah State Fairpark, spans across 100 acres with plans of a $3.5 billion investment by Larry H Miller. The timeline and specifics regarding a team in Utah remain uncertain at this point.
