Park City has been crowned the best-preserved mining town in the West. After the discovery of silver in 1868, this small mining camp grew into a town of miners, gamblers, merchants, saloon keepers and ladies of the evening. Mining flourished until the 1930s and gradually declined into the 1960s. Park City Mountain Resort saved the city from its ghost town status. Today, it is the largest ski resort in North America and connects all the way to Canyons Village, as well as Main Street via its Town Lift offering easy access to the slopes and Main Street with its boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and bars.
The Old Town real estate area encompasses most of the area from Park City Mountain Resort to the Park City Municipal Golf Course and past the charmingly City Park. Largely as a result of historical preservation, Old Town has retained its small, old-western mining town charm. However, some upscale condominiums such as the 820 Park Ave, The Roundabout, Parkite, Kings Crown, the Caledonian and Marsac Mill Manor compliment beautifully restored historic homes. Park City is known for its art scene, top of the line restaurants and greatest snow on Earth.
